“ORIGIN”
Hot Buttered Rum is invented by mistake by a Mr. Nathaniel Chumberton, a Colonial-era inventor, chemist, tinkerer, town-drunk, and amateur surgeon. One of his many attempts at inventing a breakfast elixir for sickly children is something called “Mulled Rum Milk.” After years of adjusting the recipe, and substituting two ingredients, (milk and turpentine), with fresh butter and molasses sugar, Chumberton finds the elixir to be both pleasing and wonderfully intoxicating…especially to small, colicky children. The Hot Buttered Rum is born. |
